Watchmen Chapter I: Exclusive Trailer, Voice Cast, Boxart and Release Date

IGN can exclusively reveal the new Watchmen Chapter I trailer, as well as its stellar voice cast ensemble and new boxart for Warner Bros. Animation and Paramount’s R-rated animated film adaptation of the seminal DC graphic novels. (You can watch the new trailer via the player above or the embed below.)

Watchmen Chapter I will be released on Digital on August 13 and on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on August 27. Watchmen Chapter II will be released later in 2024.

Based on the groundbreaking graphic novel series by writer Alan Moore and illustrator Dave Gibbons, Watchmen Chapter I adapts the gritty, Cold War superhero saga that redefined the comics medium back in the 1980s.

The official synopsis for Chapter I reads: “In an alternate world history set in 1985, the murder of a government-sponsored superhero draws his outlawed colleagues out of retirement and into a mystery that threatens to upend their personal lives and the world itself.”

As produced and directed by Brandon Vietti from an adaptation by J. Michael Straczynski, Watchmen Chapter I aims to faithfully recapture the visual aesthetic of the original graphic novels illustrated by Dave Gibbons.
