V/H/S Beyond Writers and Directors Revealed, With Mike Flanagan and Kate Siegel Among the Headliners

Shudder revealed the title, release date, and lineup of writers and directors for the seventh V/H/S installment today, and it managed to nab a modern horror maestro for one of its segments.

The latest in the horror anthology series will be titled V/H/S Beyond, and it’ll premiere on Shudder on October 4. The streaming service announced that Beyond will feature six tapes that place “horror at the forefront of a sci-fi-inspired hellscape.”

Among the writers and directors of those six tapes are Mike Flanagan and Kate Siegel, names familiar to those who keep up with the horror landscape. Flanagan is the filmmaker behind movies like Doctor Sleep, Gerald’s Game, and an upcoming The Exorcist film, as well as Netflix horror series including The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, and The Fall of the House of Usher. Siegel, meanwhile, is Flanagan’s spouse and frequent creative collaborator, having starred in all the aforementioned Netflix series as well as films like Hush and Oculus.

They’re teaming up for a segement called Stowaway, which Siegel directed and Flanagan wrote. Among the other creatives is Justin Long, who’s well known in the horror sphere for his work in front of the camera (Barbarian, Drag Me to Hell, Jeepers Creepers). He co-wrote and directed a segment with his brother, Christian Long, titled Fur Babies.

The most recent V/H/S installment, V/H/S/85, debuted last October, which Shudder called “the most-watched exclusive film premiere of the year for Shudder and AMC+.” IGN gave that installment a 7/10, writing, “If you’re a V/H/S fan, V/H/S85 won’t be the entry that sours your tune – and boasts a steady enough consistency to win over doubters, too.”
