After several years of silence, Obsidian has reemerged with a new trailer for The Outer Worlds 2, giving us our first look at gameplay and confirmation that it’ll be arriving on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Steam, and Game Pass in 2025.
Watch the trailer below:
The Outer Worlds 2 was first announced in 2021 as part of…wow, here’s a throwback, the last-ever E3. At the time, we didn’t know much, just that the game would feature a similar sense of humor to its predecessor. There’s a bit of that in this new trailer, with the voiceover telling fans to “get ready for an adventure that took three times longer to make but will almost certainly be two times bigger.”
Otherwise, we just got a quick look at gameplay that’s pretty similar in style to its predecessor. Just, as Obsidian puts it, “more action, more weapons, and more… graphics?!”
The confirmation that it’ll come out in 2025 also means Obsidian is gearing up for a big year. Avowed, its other tentpole release, is set to launch on Windows and Xbox Series X/S on February 18, 2025. We recently had positive things to say about that first-person RPG after finally getting our hands on it earlier this month.
We really dug the first The Outer Worlds, giving it an 8.5/10 and saying that with it, “Obsidian has found its own path in the space between Bethesda and BioWare, and it’s a great one.” For more, check out our roundup of everything announced at The Game Awards.
