College Football 25 marks the first time current college football players will star in a game instead of generic names and faces. EA announced it in 2021 when it didn’t plan to use real likenesses, but eventually pivoted into using actual student-athletes after the Supreme Court ruled these players could ink name, image, and likeness deals while being members of a collegiate athletics team.
On3 reported in June 2024 that roughly 14,000 college football players opted in to be featured in College Football 25. Those who gave EA consent to use their name, image, and likeness in the game would receive $600 and a copy of College Football 25.
College Football 25 will be released for PS5 and Xbox Series X and S on July 16 for those purchasing the $99.99 Deluxe Edition. Those purchasing the $69.99 standard edition can’t play until July 19.
EA Sports has already released deep dives into its gameplay, Dynasty Mode, and College Ultimate Team. IGN also has an extensive preview of College Football 25.
