It’s official, a new Avatar cartoon is coming as Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios announce Avatar: Seven Havens.
Avatar: The Last Airbender creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko announced the new series to celebrate Avatar’s 20th anniversary. The new series, Avatar: Seven Havens, will be a 26-episode, 2D animated series following a young Earthbender who is the next Avatar following Avatar Korra.
In a press release, Nickelodeon says Seven Havens will be set in a world “shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra – but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.”
Konietzko and DiMartino said in a statement, “When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters.”
Avatar: Seven Havens will be split into two seasons comprising a 13-episode Book 1 and a 13 episode Book 2. Konietzko and DiMartino are co-creating the new series together with executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. No cast has been announced yet.
This is the first mainline TV series from Avatar Studios who are also developing a full-length animated movie based on Aang. This movie is set to premiere in theaters on January 30, 2026 and will follow adult Aang on a new adventure.
As part of the 20th anniversary celebration, Avatar Studios also announced a line of new books, comics, concerts, toys, and a game in Roblox to herald the milestone.
