The Acolyte Episode 7 Offers New Theory About the Identity of Qimir’s Sith Master

Warning: Spoilers follow for Episode 7 of The Acolyte.

The Acolyte’s latest episode left a question mark over one character’s fate, raising suspicions about whether Qimir’s Sith Master may have been hiding in plain sight.

Episode 7 of The Acolyte flashed back sixteen years to reveal what happened on Brendok. It turns out that the Jedi’s meddling led to a clash, which saw Sol kill Mother Aniseya with his lightsaber and Indara free Kelnacca from the witches’ possession, resulting in the total wipeout of the coven — or so it seemed.

Mother Koril vanished into a cloud of dark smoke during the chaos, and her body was absent among the witches, presumably left for dead inside the fortress. Her disappearing act spiked fans’ curiosities as they took to X/Twitter and Reddit to speculate whether Koril made it out alive and potentially linked up with Qimir.

Qimir seems to know a lot about this night for someone who (so far) wasn’t there. Someone must have told him right? pic.twitter.com/tVttEhm3aX

It’s definitely not the last time we see Mother Koril, she disappeared in smoke the same way Mother Talzin did a few times in The Clone Wars…
I wonder if she’ll appear in the finale or if they keep that story for season 2 🤔#TheAcolyte pic.twitter.com/I34Nae4XzT

I’m starting to think that Koril survived and is the one who founded and trained Qimir. She most likely told him the truth of the events that happened and it’s how he knows. Hell we all know night sister magik is just the darkside of the force #TheAcolyte

BY SUPPORTING MY THEORY THAT MOTHER KORIL IS ALIVE AND SHE IS PULLING STRINGS AND OF THEM IS QIMIR pic.twitter.com/j6AwnFIQUe

i called it a week ago and i’m calling it again: mother koril is alive and plays a part in all of this. episode 7 just supports my theory https://t.co/NwXn3OL3FI

“So Koril is still out there right? We never saw her die,” one person wrote on Reddit, to which someone replied: “Saying it now Koril is the Sith who Qimir is under.” Another shared a telling line of dialogue, suggesting, “‘Good girl. Get mad.’ Could be a tip-off there.” A fourth person agreed: “She had to be the one pulling the strings.”

There has been a lot of ambiguity around Mother Koril, as we learned in Episode 3 that she was responsible for bringing Osha and Mae “into the world” and that she “carried them” while Aniseya “created them.” Some people wondered whether Darth Plagueis also had a hand in it, meaning there is a deeper Dark Side connection.

Plagueis’ name has frequently come up and it is not known if Qimir is working as his apprentice, but it is also possible that Koril has a pivotal part to play in it all.

With only one episode of The Acolyte remaining, there is a lot of ground still to cover and mysteries to be solved (but there could be even more to explore in a potential Season 2). IGN’s review of Episode 7 noted that it provided “a lot of information,” but some revelations are offset by “very frustrating and often silly specifics.”
