First Ever Game Changers Award Goes to Amir Satvat for Work in Helping Laid Off Game Devs Find Work – The Game Awards 2024

The Game Awards 2024 honored Amir Satvat with its first ever Game Changers award on Thursday — a new award intended to recognize people who have had a positive impact on the games industry.

Satvat was recognized for his work in helping game developers find work in a period in which the games industry has been devastated by layoffs. Wanting to help developers out of work, Satvat created a free resource that collects all of the open positions around the industry and helps workers get hired.

Satvat received a standing ovation as he accepted the award, where he tearfully thanked his parents. “I love video games with all my heart. To all game makers everywhere, you are seen and treasured and our community will always be there to help you.”

Elsewhere, The Game Awards 2024 featured its usual array of announcements big and small, including reveals for Witcher 4, a new Elden Ring, and more. You can read everything announced at The Game Awards right here, as well as our running list of all the winners.
